Can I stay present with my experience as a neutral observer? Can I welcome this feeling and listen to what it has to say? Can I observe my breath more closely? Can I inhabit my body more fully? Can I relax and allow the planet to support me? Can I have greater compassion for my own suffering? I care about how I feel. I am neither my emotions nor my thoughts. The way out is through. An insightful observation that I once heard one of my ReConnective Therapy teachers make is that every instance of what we call sickness or disease always carries with it an element of shame, even if it's just a hangnail.
Consequently, since healing tends to bring emotion into our awareness for us, it's normal to experience shame as part and parcel of the healing process. Just as with any other experience of emotion, we can observe it, allow it, let it pass through, and perhaps even appreciate it as an indicator of healing occurring. May we be at peace.
